is a way of organizing your property so that you can control who will benefit from it at various stages in your life. When you establish a Trust, you are actually creating another legal entity and placing your property (assets) in that other entity.
The Trust document you sign tells the trustee how your property is to be handled and invested, and how it is to be distributed on your death. The main reason that people establish Trusts is to avoid the time, expense and hassle of probate.
As the settlor, or person who creates the Trust, you instruct the trustee how to handle your assets and how to distribute them to your beneficiaries (usually your family) on your death.
